One of the world’s oldest games, Nine Men’s Morris is mentioned in King Alfonso’s Book of Games from Spain in the early 1330s along with an illustration. The Game also appeared in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream (around 1595) but was popular in India during the 9th and 10th centuries and in Europe during the 1400s. The grid for this game has been found in
Greece where it was carved into stone in an Egyptian temple as well as in a Byzantine church in Turkey. The grid was also etched into cathedral seats in London and without a doubt has been a very popular game for centuries.
Fun Fact: Nine Men’s Morris is a more difficult Adult
version of the Children’s game of Tic Tac Toe.
Fun Fact: There are 3D versions of Nine Men’s
Morris available for the computer.
